This Fax Machines give to us some advantages, good reviews already proving the quality of this product, like this :
1. Should be called a SCAMMER, not a scanner
I really find this unethical. The Canon toner cartridges that you are supposed to buy with this work with the printer so that when they are (supposedly) low on ink, the printer starts blinking an error message. It lets you use it for a few dozen more print jobs. Then, despite the fact that there is NO sign of lack of ink, and the fact that FAXING DOESN'T REQUIRE INK, the printer stops working and so does the fax function. I struggled for days to send a very important professional fax. I finally gave up and tried the one thing I hadn't done - change the toner cartridge - and now the fax function suddenly works. This is so obviously a ploy to make you have to pay to buy their ink before it runs out. I am really annoyed with them. In general it's an okay machine, although I have had one other annoying problem with it (first printouts often have an error message and you have to try again). But this part galls me.

2. Could have a better interface.
The hardware side of this device is exceptional. It prints quickly, goes to sleep quickly, and is completely silent when asleep. The print is crisp and clear, the scans excellent. The paper feeder is smooth and hasn't jammed yet.

Printing is flawless with both, Windows and Mac PCs (you have to download the Mac software from the Canon website, no biggie).

The painful part, and the reason why I gave it 3 stars, is that the firmware is cumbersome for scanning. I should be able to go up to the machine, select the PC to which i want the scan to go (assume for a moment that they are all on the same, secure subnet and that I have allowed access to the PC storage) and have the scan go there. Alternatively, start the whole process from the PC and then just put the papers to be scanned in the scanner, hit a button linking the PC's scan request to the action, and done.

No, instead you have to go back and forth between the machine you want the scan to end up on,...

Works OK, but definite areas for improvement
My old Dell multi-function printer gave up the ghost, and I chose this model to replace it. The primary attractions were the low price (at least until you have to buy toner), and the feature set. I don't use this printer a whole lot, and have even less use for the scanner and fax. I probably print 10 pages a week, send a dozen faxes a year, and scan the very occasional document. In short, just above the level where it makes sense to rely on the local copy shop.

=== The Good Stuff ===

* The installation was fairly simple and foolproof. It connected to my network (wired) with a minimum of fuss, and no problems loading any of the drivers onto a couple Windows7 or XP computers. It got an IP address from my router with no problems, but did not seem to report a description (name) back to the router. The acid test: The UPS guy dropped it off at 3:30, and at 4:15 the first test page came out. And half of that time was wrestling with the styrofoam packing and trying to...
